Organizational Development partners with Employee Assistance Program and several other departments at UAMS to host workshops on various important topics.

 


Brilliant Life Workshop Series

The Brilliant Life Workshop Series was created based on a suggestion submitted through the Employee Suggestion Program by Holly Hiryak, director of Pre-Access Ambulatory Business Center. The series is aimed at providing employees with the tools and resources to create effective work-life balance.

Classes are conducted by the Employee Assistance Program and hosted by Michael Yang.

 

Procrastination: The Art of Eating a Frog

Do you put off things until the last minute?  Are you always turning things in late? Procrastination is delaying an action even if that causes you problems.  Most people procrastinate some, but if you procrastinate until it becomes a problem, this workshop may help you deal with this universal habit.

Are you forever juggling, work, home, kids, self, …?  Are you overwhelmed with too many obligations up in the air at the same time?  If so, this workshop will look at how we can spend our time and energy to accomplish what we want with our life.  We’ll also give you activities to help you set goals and manage your time to achieve them.

 

Mindfulness at work

Do you have days when it’s difficult to focus, maybe because you have a worry or big decision or upcoming vacation on your mind?  In such a mood it’s too easy to mindlessly fritter away your time and not feel productive at the end of the day.  During this hour we will explore strategies for being present in the moment, while still working toward your goals and enjoying life.

 

Successful Couple-hood

 Why is a satisfying intimate relationship so universally desired and yet so difficult to achieve?  This workshop outlines the building blocks of successful couple hood.  This training focuses on the skills and principles that can create an atmosphere of enduring friendship, support and intimacy.

 

Road to Recovery: Helping a loved one with Mental Illness or Substance Abuse.

When a loved one is suffering from a mental illness or is abusing substances the whole family suffers with them.  It is very confusing to know what to do and where to go for help.  In this workshop we will examine different types of mental illness and addictions and what steps can be taken to help this person get back to a place that is healthy.

Workplace Violence Series

This series helps keep you safe at work by teaching you the warning signs of workplace violence and what you need to do to survive.

Classes are conducted by UAMS Police Sergeant Bradley Jones and hosted by Kevin Huneycutt.
