Arkansas Gem: Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art
Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, located in Bentonville, was named as one of the World’s Hottest Museums by SmaterTravel.com in 2014. This museum houses a permanent collection of American art from the colonial era to modern day. Artists such as Charles Wilson Peale, Norman Rockwell, Thomas Eakins, and Andy Warhol are featured here.
There is also a library, restaurant, and store on the premises. Crystal Bridges library is a non-circulating library. Eleven restaurant features modern American comfort food with an emphasis on traditions that focus on the Ozarks. You can purchase various items, from postcards of the artwork to home décor in the Museum store.
The museum is over 200,000 sq. feet and was designed by Moshe Safdie. General admission is free as it is sponsored by Walmart. Hours are Monday & Thursday, 11am – 6pm; Wednesday & Friday, 11am – 9pm; Saturday & Sunday, 10am – 6pm. They are closed on Tuesdays. Trails and grounds around the museum hold various sculptures and wildlife viewing is available from sunrise to sunset daily.
