Leading with Purpose

The Leading with Purpose Program is the pre-requisite for Leadership Institute. It is a 6-month program designed for directors, faculty members, business administrators, supervisors, managers, directors or anyone who is on a managerial track to further develop the leadership skills and effectiveness of UAMS leaders. Through exploring a variety of leadership topics, leaders will develop ways to apply their learnings to their everyday work for increased effectiveness. The content will be cumulative and sessions will build upon each other as the program progresses.

The program includes 6 full-day sessions plus a day long kick-off event/orientation

Program Objectives:

  • Create a network of leaders from cross-functional roles across UAMS
  • Develop and prepare participants with the skills necessary to be an effective leader at UAMS
  • Acquaint participants with campus needs, challenges and opportunities across UAMS
  • Develop and retain talented leaders

Who Should Apply:

  • All UAMS leaders (director, faculty members, business administrators, managers)
  • Directors, business administrators, and faculty members who are interested in attending Leadership Institute in the future
  • UAMS employees who will be transitioning into leadership roles within one-year
  • UAMS employees with roles which require leadership skills

The program includes the following topics:

  • Servant Leadership
  • Emotional Intelligence (EI)
  • Change Management
  • Crucial Conversations
  • How to be a Mentor

Program Cost:

  • $500.00

Time Commitment:

  • One full day per month

Application Process:

  • Applications are completed online
  • Application deadlines vary and are always posted in the UAMS announcements

CEUs:

Our office works with the UAMS Office of Continuing Education to provide CEUs for each session.  The UAMS Office of Continuing Education is currently accredited with the following entities:

  • Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
  • Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
  • American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)

If you field requires you to earn CEUs from entities that are not listed above, our office is unable to cover the cost to provide those CEUs, however, if your department is willing to cover the cost, we will process the CEU application.
