J-1 Alien Physician: Basic Information

J-1 Alien Physician visa is a temporary nonimmigrant visa and permits visa holders to engage in clinical training activities. It is commonly used by foreign national physicians to participate in the U.S. programs of graduate medical education or training. Educational Commission on Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is the sole sponsor for the J-1 Alien Physician visa in the U.S.

UAMS Immigration Services acts as the primary Training Program Liaison (TPL) between ECFMG and the UAMS training departments to facilitate the J-1 Alien Physician Program.
